Suffering of Loved One--Constant Nausea, Dizziness, and More

Hopefully, you have not had to experience personally, or see a loved one, deal with the effects of the supposedly harmless smart meters.  I have.  Watching someone suffer with constant shooting ear pain, nonstop buzzing in the ears, elevated heart rates, constant nausea and dizziness, to name some of the more notable side effects, is dreadful.  When someone is sitting on their patio at 6:00 a.m. on a cold morning in an attempt to escape the pain and dizziness that comes from living in their own home, I’d say something is definitely wrong.  When a relative is spending nights at your house because they can’t deal with the complications of living in their own home that has had a smart meter installed, I’d say action needs to be taken. I am not exaggerating the effects these meters can have. I have witnessed it first hand.

Gas Smart Meter--Insomnia, Brain Fog, Angry Outbursts . . . .

The gas company (DTE) installed a smart meter on my house, which is located just three-and-a-half feet from my pillow in my bedroom. I had no idea they had installed the meter, because they never notified me. My neighbor mentioned that they had installed it earlier this summer, which is when I had started experiencing sleeplessness and a myriad of other symptoms. His driveway is next to the south side of my house, and apparently he witnessed the installation.

Around the time of the installation, I began experiencing insomnia, headaches, ringing in my ears, foggy thinking, anxiety, and a myriad of other symptoms, which seem to decrease greatly if I leave my home.
Due to lack of sleep, I have become short-tempered and irritable, to the degree that I have begun offending long-term friends and relatives. This is completely out of character for me. I have experienced dramatic fatigue, bordering on exhaustion, for weeks on end, and extremely fuzzy thinking, along with blurred vision.      [Click the Read More below to read the rest of this story.]

Didn't know meter installed until 1 1/2 years after onset of terrible health problems

This family's meter was installed in the summer of 2013 (exact dates removed to protect privacy). They didn't know it. One-and-one-half years later, the mother discovered that the smart meter had been placed on their home on the exact day she began to experience symptoms.

On ____, 2013 I went to the doctor when I experienced my second day of extreme diarrhea.  Testing stool and blood revealed no cause.

Shortly thereafter I began to experience irritability and anxiety.  My blood pressure, which had been previously under control, began to rise. 

Since [date smart meters installed], 2013 I’ve had 3 episodes of ankle swelling and pain.  Visits to primary doctor, endocrinologist, and rheumatologist – testing for RA, Gout, etc. all has been negative.  Doctors have no explanation.

"I can hardly work anymore, I'm so exhausted from lack of sleep."

This is the testimony Leslie Panzica-Glapa submitted to the Michigan Public Service Commission in 2012.  She discusses how the smart meter has affected her health in very severe ways: sleep, memory, work, etc. Her son's story is in another blogpost.

Q.           When was a smart meter installed on your home?

A.           July 18, 2012.

Q.           Did you know it had been installed on your home?

A.           No, I didn’t. Later, when I couldn’t sleep, I called DTE, and they told me the date it had been installed.

Q.           Something led you to call DTE. What was that?

A.           Never in my life have I had a problem sleeping.   “When my head hits the pillow,” as the saying goes, “I'm out like a light.” But now I was lying awake for hours without falling asleep, night after night. 12 am, 2 am, 4 am, I'm still awake! I wondered, “What's going on?”

Every Problem Under the Sun

"Heart palpitations, racing heart and skipping beats, this sent me to a cardiologist who said I had mitral value prolapse. Pain in my jaws, symptoms of TMJ, hard to chew and my jaw sometimes locks up . . . " 

About three years ago, I started having a lot of different health problems. Up until that point, I had been very healthy and active, and when I started having problems I blamed them on my job, my husband, and stress. I was not aware that a smart meter had been installed on my home three years ago. I found out just a few days ago, after a friend in the neighborhood called to tell me she had just gotten a letter from DTE. She said they were going to start installing Smart Meters. I had read about them and knew I didn't want one, so I called DTE to opt out, and that's when I found out they had installed one on my house three years ago--right outside my bedroom wall, about 15 feet from where I sleep!

Headaches, fuzzy, uncomfortable

I have a Consumers Energy smart meter. I started getting headaches and feeling "fuzzy" after it was installed. For the last 5 days I have been sleeping in a bed on the other side of the house. I don't feel fuzzy or have headaches when I am there. I have been in this office where I am typing this for an hour and a half and the fuzzy feeling is back. The office is by the smart meter. My head feels uncomfortable. I don't how else to describe it.

Eyes sore and red, get a pattern on my skin now when exposed to Computers, CFL bulbs, fluorescent lights. Swelling, white spots appeared on my face within 6 months of meter installed! Toothaches, severe headaches, arrhythmia, muscle spasms, nose bleeds and a loud train noise were my symptoms right after meter was installed. About a month after installation, my doctor prescribed an inhaler! I have been living with unusual fatigue, muscle soreness, inability to focus...my once amazing memory has left me since the meter was installed! My symptoms worsened and I have experience seizures and now have a Thyroid problem!

Leslie and Drew's Story--Insomnia, Blood Sugar Spikes. Meter Removed, Health Improves.

DTE put the smart meter on my home in July of 2012. In the days, weeks, and months that followed, I experienced horrible insomnia, memory loss, headaches, and feelings like I was going crazy. I didn’t know the meter had been installed (I hadn’t even heard of smart meters), and I couldn’t understand why I—who had always been a great sleeper—suddenly couldn’t sleep anymore. That was my first sign that something was wrong. I began talking to my friends about it, and one of them said, “Do you have a smart meter?” That’s when I learned what they were. I called DTE (this was in August of 2012) and found out the meter had been put on my house in July—at exactly the time I became unable to sleep. DTE refused to help me. I began sleeping in a tent in my backyard because I couldn't sleep in my home, and now I knew why.

My 16-year-old son Drew was sleeping just fine, and thought maybe I was a bit crazy because I was suddenly having all these terrible symptoms. Drew was diagnosed at age 14 with juvenile diabetes. Once on medication, his blood sugar levels (A1c’s) were perfect. He is a patient at Mott’s Children’s Hospital.

About 2 months after the smart meter went on our home (Drew’s bedroom being four feet from the meter), we went to the endocrinologist for his regular check-up. We were astounded to learn that his blood sugar levels had shot up from 6.8 to 9.5—a very dangerous level! I didn't have to think twice and immediately pulled that damn meter off my house! Love beats out fear.

I took my meter off in January of 2013. Drew had an appointment with his endocrinologist less than a month later, and by then his A1c’s had dropped back to an almost normal range. Three months later, they were normal again. I am enclosing  a chart of Drew’s A1c’s from Mott’s Hospital showing his levels before, during, and after the smart meter. You can see the effect pulling off the smart meter had on his levels.

I believe health is our only true wealth, and I will never have a smart meter on my home again.

Mother and Son--Insomnia, Heart Palpitations, Brain Fog, Migraines, Blood Sugar Elevated

History:

My son and I have experienced the following unexplained symptoms since a Smart Meter was installed on our home: insomnia, heart palpitations, brain fog, intense migraine, elevated blood sugar.  

Our health and sleep were stable when we moved into our current residence.  We were never told that a Smart Meter was being installed on our home.  Shortly after it was installed, my son and I began to experience the above mentioned adverse group of health symptoms.   We had been working with a health practitioner to find a reason for these new symptoms when I came across an article about smart meter radiation.  I learned that others were experiencing similar symptoms as we were after the installation of a Smart Meter on their home.

That is when I checked and found that we did have a Smart Meter on our home, and that DTE had installed it after we moved in at the same time that my son and I developed the above symptoms.  My son slept through the night before the Smart Meter installation.  He and I have had insomnia ever since.  I have migraine headaches that went from mild to severe with the Smart Meter.  I now notice that I can have an intense migraine that is alleviated when I leave the house and returns instantaneously when I come back home.  I have, also experienced heart palpitations and brain fog. 

 After the smart meter installation and a routine blood check, my doctor told me that my blood sugar had spiked.  He said I would have to reduce the carbs in my diet.  My diet, however, was very healthy and very low in carbs already.  When I tried to understand why this was happening I learned of others who had a documented rise in blood sugar and other health problems with the Smart Meter.  After checking my bloodwork this fall, my doctor informed me that my blood sugar is still a concern.

Since the installation of the Smart Meter we have power outages that last a few minutes several times a week, seemingly like power surges.  DTE cannot explain why this is happening so we stopped reporting it.  This past summer we had a hard drive on a newer Dell computer fail and the power supply went out on a 4 year old Sony flat screen TV.  We cannot rule out power surges as a cause.

I am eager to have our Smart Meter removed, first and foremost, to protect our son against a risk factor for leukemia, and so that he can sleep through the night again, and so that we can both restore our health.
